The only known Sindarin word for this language is Eglathrin. The word Sindarin is itself a Quenya form. ![]() Sindarin is one of the many languages spoken by the immortal Elves, called the Eledhrim or Edhellim in Sindarin. Tolkien for use in his secondary world known as Middle-earth. Sindarin is a fictional language devised by J. If Lojban was actually a selection, it would have probably outdone Dothraki and Klingon. Sindarin did not appear as a selection and got 1 vote, while Klingon did appear as a selection and got 54 votes. Case-and-point, Lojban did not appear as a selection on the survey, and it still got 21 votes. Considering how similar Dovah's grammar is to English's, I'd bet the most fluent Dovah "speakers" are probably more fluent than the most fluent Dothraki "speakers".Īs far as conlang's in general are concerned, there's far more interest in Lojban than there is in either Dothraki or Sindarin for Duolingo. Sure, a lot of people like the TES games, but it's not a language that's complete enough for anyone to actually speak. Dovah (which was not a selection but got one vote anyway) would be in about the same category. It shouldn't have been on the survey at all because, as already pointed out, it's far too incomplete to actually speak. Whoever made that decision seems out of touch with what people would actually be interested in.ĭothraki appeared in the last survey as a selection and got only 42 votes. I really hope that it does work out in the end, though personally I am far more interested in High Valyrian (another Game of Thrones language) than Dothraki.Īlso, the Duolingo staff have talked about adding Esperanto on multiple occasions, so it will definitely come eventually. Those applying can't be expected to be fluent and the course can't be expected to have all the words that a normal language would. So basically, the rules for the Incubator would have to be changed when it comes to conlangs. On top of all that, the language only has about 3k words atm. Some people know a bit of Dothraki, and follow David's blog which can be found here: but the only one that could possibly even work on such a course right now would be David himself, and that isn't going to happen seeing as how he is busy working on a paid course atm and another book on language creation as well. ![]() ![]() When it comes to Dothraki, 0 people are fluent in it (a requirement for the Incubator applicants) including the creator of the language David J. I am not sure how Dothraki is gonna work out (I can't comment on Sindarin). I'll just post what I said on the Duolingo forums.
